At Philadelphia Integrative Psychiatry (PIP), our approach to diagnosing and treating Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is thorough and multi-disciplinary.

For diagnosis, we utilize the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), a standardized assessment tool that provides an accurate evaluation of ASD. ADOS involves observation and interaction with the individual, allowing us to understand their communication, social interaction, and play or imaginative use of materials.Once diagnosed, our treatment strategy for Autism involves a team-based approach. Recognizing the unique needs of each individual with Autism, we tailor our treatment plans to address various aspects of the disorder. Our team includes experienced behavioral specialists who provide in-home care, making it convenient and comfortable for individuals and their families. This in-home care incorporates elements from a range of effective therapeutic approaches.

Key components of our treatment for Autism include Family Therapy, which involves working with the family unit to improve communication and interaction; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps in managing challenging behaviors and thought patterns; Skills-Based Therapy, focusing on the development of practical life skills; and Social Skills Training, which enhances social interaction and communication abilities.A crucial part of our approach is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA is a widely recognized and effective treatment for Autism that involves encouraging desired behaviors and discouraging undesired behaviors to improve various skills. This method is highly personalized, allowing for adjustments based on the individual’s progress and specific needs.

Overall, PIP’s approach to Autism combines expert diagnosis, a range of therapeutic interventions, and a supportive, team-based methodology, offering comprehensive care and support to individuals with ASD and their families.
